How our investor data works

Where Angel Roster's 68,909 investor profiles come from, what they contain, how we organize them and where the data has gaps. Figures on this page are calculated from the live database (last updated October 12, 2026).

What's in a profile

Each investor profile can include:

  • Name, investor type (for example angel investor, venture capital firm or family office) and country
  • The investment stages they invest at, such as Pre-Seed, Seed or Series A
  • The industries they focus on
  • Portfolio companies they've backed
  • Direct contact details: a verified email address where available and a LinkedIn profile

Profile, stage, industry and portfolio information is free to browse. Contact details are only shown to members.

Where the data comes from

We aggregate and verify publicly available information about investors alongside proprietary sources, then standardize it into consistent investor types, stages and industries so profiles can be searched and compared. Profiles marked Verified have passed additional matching checks.

We continuously update the database to keep contact details deliverable and investment focus tags accurate, for example when an investor moves to a new firm.

How directory pages are built

Directory pages group investors by industry, stage, investor type, location and portfolio company. To keep every page useful, we only publish a page when enough investors match: at least 30 for an industry, 20 for a country, 20 for an industry in a specific stage or country, and 15 for a portfolio company.

Each page lists the most complete profiles first, ranking verified profiles with stage and portfolio information above sparser ones. There is no paid placement in the directory.

Known limitations

  • 60% of profiles don't list investment stages, so stage pages undercount investors who don't publish one.
  • 10% of profiles have no location, so they don't appear on country pages.
  • Portfolio companies are matched by name, so different companies with the same name can be grouped together.
  • Investors change firms and focus over time, so some details may be out of date.
